1st J-PLUS Workshop - Centro de Estudios de Física del Cosmos de Aragón

The J-PLUS has already gathered ~600 deg2 of data at different levels of reduction, calibration, and scientific exploitation. After the public release of the EDR (~40deg2 ) and the publication of the Paper 0 in September 2017, the workshop will be focused on developing the subsequent analyses using the whole J-PLUS data available. This data is an order of magnitude increase in area with respect to the EDR and, thus, there are new scientific opportunities but also technical challenges in its handling and exploitation.

The goal of the 3-day workshop is for collaboration members to work on new and/or existing projects, share expertise on the data, and provide comments/suggestions to the improve the data flow. For this reason, we have not planned any contributed talks but instead encourage free discussions and interactions. We also aim to define the steps towards the next data release (DR1), with the goal of making it public by the second half of 2018.

To have a productive meeting, we would like to request you all to think about your science cases, and tell us in the registration form the skills that you want to acquire during the workshop, and any other relevant information/comments/ideas that would facilitate your science.

About Teruel

Teruel is located in central Spain, in the south of the Aragón region. The province is home to notable examples of Mudéjar architecture. The city of Teruel is a prime example of this architecture and was awarded the World Heritage Designation by the UNESCO. Other interesting destinations in the province are Albarracín, with its Arab fortress; Mora de Rubielos, which has one of the best conserved castles in Aragón; and Alcalá de la Selva, which is very popular for hikers due to its attractive landscapes. Truffle and local pork products (particularly the cured ham from Teruel) are highly recommended.

Transportation & Travel Information

Teruel is located as a central point between important cities such as Madrid (300 km), Barcelona (409 km), Valencia (140 km) or Zaragoza (180 km).

By Road

North: From Zaragoza you must converge to the Mudéjar A-23 highway, take the Center exit of Teruel.

Center: The most common road is Madrid-Zaragoza, that takes to the Mudéjar A-23 highway. Take the Center exit of Teruel.

East: From Valencia/Levant (east of Spain) you must converge to the Mudéjar A-23 highway and take the South exit of Teruel.

By train

The journey between Madrid and Teruel can be made by train. From the AVE station Madrid-Puerta de Atocha there are over 20 trains to Zaragoza destination diary. There you can take one of the trains which reach to Teruel from there. You can search for the schedules and reservations in the official website of Renfe.
